SINGAPORE: The five-member Singapore Olympic badminton squad did not meet their targets, but they still received a warm reception when they arrived home from Beijing on Tuesday night.
Cheering fans greeted the shuttlers at Changi Airport's Terminal 3.
Singapore Badminton Association's new President, Lee Yi Shyan, who is also the Minister of State for Trade and Industry, was part of the welcoming party.
Although the five players failed to make it past the preliminary rounds in the games, they certainly gained valuable experience from the competition.
All eyes though, were on veteran shuttler Ronald Susilo, who competed in his second Olympics.
The 29-year-old said he wants to move on from his defeat to world number two Lee Chong Wei in Beijing, and is not making any excuses for his performance. - CNA/vm
