SINGAPORE : Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean visited the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) troops on Thursday at an armour exercise, code-named Lionwalk, in Christchurch, New Zealand.
A bilateral exercise between the 8th Singapore Armoured Brigade (8 SAB) and the Queen Alexandra's Mounted Rifles (QAMR) Squadron of the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF), Ex Lionwalk, allows both armies to share knowledge in operational concepts, training systems and equipment such as ground sensors and image capturing systems.
The SAF and the NZDF have worked closely in overseas missions such as the UN peacekeeping mission in Timor-Leste.
The two militaries continue to cooperate closely in joint reconstruction efforts in Bamiyan province, Afghanistan.
