SINGAPORE: The trial for the last man involved in the kidney-for-sale case is scheduled for January 12 to 16.

Bedlinen businessman Whang Sung Lin faces one charge of abetment for his alleged role in the case.

The 44-year-old, who is out on a S$10,000 bail, allegedly introduced middleman Wang Chin Sing to his relative, retail magnate Tang Wee Sung, earlier this year for a fee.

If convicted, he could be fined up to S$10,000 or jailed for up to a year.

Tang, 56, had been fined S$17,000 and has served his one-day sentence.

Middleman Wang, 44, who helped to arrange the illegal deals, got 14 months.

Indonesian Sulaiman Damanik, who was to sell his kidney to Tang, was jailed for three weeks, while another Indonesian, Toni, who introduced Sulaiman to Tang, was sentenced to three and a half weeks' jail in June.
