SINGAPORE : The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is reconsidering an alternative entrance to the Serangoon Gardens Foreign Workers' Dormitory.

This comes two days after affected residents complained that the S$2 million proposed road would cause traffic and noise congestion.

Suggestions from residents on diverting the entrance elsewhere came at a dialogue session on Sunday.

MP for Aljunied GRC, Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, then submitted the proposals to LTA, which said it will consider factors such as traffic and safety in its assessment.

A report will be submitted to the Ministry of National Development soon to make the final call.

The original proposal links the dormitory to Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, next to landed homes in Tai Hwan and Mei Hwan Estate. - CNA /ls
