SINGAPORE : The exorcism case involving the Novena Church resumed at the High Court on Wednesday, but it was adjourned after lawyers from both sides met in chambers for about 20 minutes.

Lawyers for all sides will have to reply in writing to each other's written arguments. Parties will be recalled to hear the judgement on a date to be fixed.

52-year-old Amutha Valli Krishnan is suing the church, two priests and six church-goers for allegedly performing an exorcism on her on 10 August 2004. She claims she was traumatised by the incident.

The case was first heard in October 2007. - CNA /ls
