SINGAPORE: Singapore's HDB flats have been around for nearly 50 years. But rarely do they capture the attention of the country's artists except for watercolourist Ong Kim Seng.

His first solo exhibition at the Singapore Art Museum opened on Wednesday night.

It features 35 paintings of public housing estates. There is also a book and several video presentations to accompany the paintings.

Ong said the exhibition chronicles the estates built by the Housing and Development Board since the 1960s.

His style is a combination of contemporary and historical elements.

The exhibition is open to the public until November 30. - CNA/vm
