SINGAPORE: The Singapore Hit Awards, which recognises the best in Chinese pop music, took place on Saturday evening at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The top winner of the night was Aska Yang from Taiwan who received both the Most Popular Male Artiste award and the Most Popular Newcomer award.

Taiwanese star A-Mei received the Most Popular Female Artiste award, while S.H.E clinched the Most Popular Group award.

Album of the Year went to Eason Chan from Hong Kong, while Singapore's Tanya Chua won the Best Local Artiste award as well as the Best Composing Artiste award.

A total of 30 awards were given out and fans were treated to performances by local and regional celebrities.

Stars like May Day, Eason Chan and Fish Leong were also present at the event.
