SINGAPORE: Top government officials from Abu Dhabi will be in Singapore to discuss issues on public governance and best practices.

The 21 officials will be exchanging views with Singapore's public sector leaders on government-wide collaborative practices.

Both sides will also discuss strategies and government initiatives to deal with long-term global trends.

Permanent Secretary of Public Service Division, Lim Soo Hoon, said that the Abu Dhabi Executive Leadership Forum would be a unique opportunity for public officers from both countries to share perspectives on the public sector mindsets and reforms required to address the increasingly complex challenges that governments face.

She added: "Dealing with the challenges of tomorrow requires government leaders to have a shared strategic perspective, language and ethos. As a small nation, Singapore has much in common with Abu Dhabi, and the Leadership Forum will be a valuable platform for us to learn from each other and build closer ties."

Ms Lim went on to say that Singapore hopes to share with its "Abu Dhabi colleagues Singapore's 'whole-of-government' strategic planning processes and structures, and stimulate a discussion on the processes and structures that Abu Dhabi is developing as part of its public sector reforms".

The Abu Dhabi delegation is expected to be in Singapore from Tuesday. The team will call on Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Defence Minister & Minister-in-charge of Civil Service, Teo Chee Hean.

The four-day visit is organised by Singapore's Civil Service College and hosted by the Public Service Division.
