SINGAPORE: Ten foreign workers who were hospitalised with chicken pox last week have been discharged. The Communicable Disease Centre (CDC) said there are no new cases involving foreign workers.

The men, living in two dormitories at Tagore Avenue, contracted chicken pox from their roommate who died from the virus.

Medical experts said there is nothing to fear about chicken pox as there is medication to contain the virus.

Dr S Sivasankaran, consultant paediatrician, Kinderclinic, said: "You don't have to take any drastic measures like what we did for SARS. Majority of those infected recover without any complications.

"For some people, if their immunity is very low, they can develop complications like pneumonia, brain fever and very rarely, death is the consequence."
