SINGAPORE : A man who sexually abused a six-year-old boy pleaded guilty to his offence in the High Court on Thursday.
29-year-old delivery man Chan Kok Weng committed a sexual act on the pre-schooler in the men's toilet at Yishun Community Library on April 27 last year.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Kan Shuk Weng told Justice Kan Ting Chiu that Chan was loitering in the library looking out for young boys going to the toilet alone.
Chan spotted the boy and entered the toilet to wait for him. The pre-schooler soon went into the toilet by himself, while his mother and sister waited outside.
Chan lured the unsuspecting pre-schooler into a cubicle and proceeded to perform a sexual act on him. But Chan stopped when he heard the boy's mother calling out for him.
He let the boy out of the cubicle and helped him wash his hands. The boy's mother noticed that her son's hands were wet and asked him if anyone had helped him at the sink.
The boy answered 'yes' and also told her about his ordeal with Chan. She immediately informed the library staff.
One of the male helpers at the library checked the toilet and found Chan in one of the cubicles.
The pre-schooler identified Chan as the man who had sexually abused him just minutes ago. Chan was handed over to the police.
Chan will be sentenced at a later date. - 938LIVE/ms
