SINGAPORE: Singapore and Brunei signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Wednesday, paving the way for stronger bilateral links in digital media.

The MOU will lead to more cooperation between regulators from both sides, as well as public and private sector business projects in areas like cable television, mobile broadcasting and internet protocol television.

The latest agreement builds on a broadcasting MOU signed by both countries in 1990, which led to a series of joint productions in radio and television.

The MOU was signed by Mohamad Taha, Brunei's directory of broadcasting, and Tan Chin Nam, chairman of Singapore's Media Development Authority, at the sidelines of BroadcastAsia 2009.

The signing was witnessed by Abu Bakar Bin Haji Apong, Brunei's Minister of Communications and Lui Tuck Yew, Singapore's Acting Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts.
