SINGAPORE: Four primary schools are to be upgraded from 2011 to 2013 under the 11th phase of the Programme for Rebuilding and Improving Existing Schools (PRIME).

These are Canossa Convent Primary School, De La Salle School, Seng Kang Primary School and Woodlands Ring Primary School.

Canossa Convent will be temporarily relocated to the former site of Macpherson Secondary School at Circuit Road from January 2012 to December 2013, while De La Salle will be relocated to the former Teck Whye Primary/Secondary site at Jalan Teck Whye from January 2011 to December 2012.

Seng Kang Primary and Woodlands Ring Primary will undergo upgrading on their existing sites from January 2011 to December 2012, and from January 2011 till December 2013, respectively.

According to a statement from the Education Ministry, schools upgraded under PRIME will have more classrooms and be fitted with new or upgraded facilities, including media resource libraries, IT learning resource rooms and pastoral care rooms.

They will also benefit from the Flexible School Infrastructure (FlexSI) framework and have an indoor sports hall as part of their upgrading plans.

The changes will enable the schools to go single session in the long term as well.

PRIME, which was launched in May 1999, has seen 227 schools upgraded, with 24 undergoing renovation works.
