SINGAPORE: Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng has reiterated Singapore's commitment to security for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
Leaders from the 21-member group - including US President Barack Obama - will be attending the two-day meeting, from November 14 to 15.
There had been recent media reports of a plot to attack the summit that was uncovered during investigations into the Jakarta bombings in July.
But on Sunday, Law and Second Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam called them "unverified rumours".
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Mr Wong, who is also the Home Affairs Minister, said Singapore is not letting its guard down.
He also said he understood the regional security situation and that Singapore is "widely exposed to threats by people who want to do us harm". The key is to ensure that Singapore remains a hard target for terrorists. - CNA/vm
