SINGAPORE: Singapore's Senior Minister, Goh Chok Tong, has concluded his five-day official visit to China.
Mr Goh was in Dalian to attend the World Economic Forum, where he met both government and business leaders from China and the Middle East.
At a meeting with Dalian's Party Secretary, Xia Deren, on Saturday morning, Mr Goh said he is looking into opportunities to draw Middle-East and Singapore investors to China.
Citing Singapore Industrial Park developer Ascendas as an example, Mr Goh said the company has a development fund for projects in China, and is targeting Middle-Eastern investors to join in the ventures.
Singapore is also planning to include Middle-Eastern investors for the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City project.
To further ties between Singapore and China, Mr Goh said he welcomes Dalian to send more civil servants for training in Singapore, as it is important "to produce a critical mass of people who understand how Singapore works".
Since 2007, Dalian has sent more than 1,000 civil servants to Singapore. Dalian's Party Secretary, Xia Deren, said he plans to send another 1,000 in the next phase.
Mr Goh, who also met Premier Wen Jiabao during his visit, said the Chinese leader had told him cooperation between Singapore and China on the national and local government levels are important to Beijing.
