SINGAPORE: Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said on Friday that all citizens, known to the ministry when the earthquake struck in the Sumatran city of Padang in Indonesia, are accounted for and safe.

John Lee, a Singaporean who was reported by American media to have been trapped in a collapsed hotel, was rescued and has since been discharged from a hospital.

MFA said some Singaporeans are already back home, while others will be returning over the next few days.

The ministry added that it is monitoring the situation and embassy officials are on the ground to provide help.

Anyone who knows of a Singaporean friend or relative who was in Padang and has been unreachable since the earthquake should contact the MFA at 6332-0000.
