PARIAMAN, INDONESIA: Indonesian Vice President-elect Dr Boediono on Tuesday visited the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) medical team stationed in Pariaman, located about 50 kilometres north of quake-hit Padang.

The 54-strong team has been treating patients at the Pariaman Public Hospital since Sunday.

During his visit, Dr Boediono was briefed on the capabilities of the SAF medical facility and the various types of medical treatment provided to the patients.

Separately on Tuesday, Indonesian Trade Minister Dr Mari Pangestu also visited the SAF medical facility and toured its Accident and Emergency clinic as well as its operating theatre.

Both Dr Boediono and Dr Mari Pangestu expressed their appreciation for the medical help provided by the SAF team.

The contingent - which comprises surgeons, doctors, medics and nurses - has treated more than 200 patients and performed 18 surgeries.
