SINGAPORE: Microsoft's latest operating system Windows 7 will be launched worldwide on Thursday.
In order to be one of the first to get their hands on the latest operating software, which promises to simplify PC use, some enthusiasts in Singapore have chosen to wait hours for the big moment.
One couple even started queuing at 3.30pm on Wednesday, so that they could purchase Windows 7 just seven minutes past the stroke of midnight.
The first 177 customers will pay just S$77 for Windows 7 – less than half of the S$219 recommended retail price.
By 8pm, there were at least 140 people at the launch party, hosted by Challenger at Funan DigitaLife Mall.
Samuel Ng, a Windows 7 enthusiast, said: "I have been reading past reviews since the beginning of the year. It has good comments from all the beta users. They commented that it's faster and more stable than Window Vista."
