Clinton meets MM Lee, says Singapore is a valued partner

SINGAPORE: Singapore's Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew on Monday met US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Washington.

During the meeting at the state department, Mrs Clinton said Singapore is a long and valued partner of the US on many important issues.

Mr Lee said it is time America renews and resumes engagement with Southeast Asia and East Asia, as Asia will alter the shape of the 21st century.

The minister mentor is on a visit to New York and Washington DC.

On Tuesday evening, Mr Lee will deliver a speech and receive the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award from the US-ASEAN Business Council during the Council's 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner.
