SINGAPORE: 360 successful haj applicants have yet to confirm their intention to perform the haj, and the Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS) said they will only have till Friday midnight to confirm.
If the successful applicants fail to confirm, their places will be given to other haj applicants in the waiting list based on registration numbers.
The allocation will be based on a first-come-first-served basis, with priority given to first time applicants.
The Association of Muslim Travel Agents of Singapore (AMTAS) said that most of the 360 haj applicants may not be keen to perform their haj - as they did not proceed to select any of the available haj packages.
"One of the possibilities is that they have not yet applied for their leave, because of the pending results from the quota from MUIS. Secondly, they have not decided on which of the packages to take. This could be because of their budget restraints," said Juyda Noor Mohamad, director, Noor Mohamad Services & Travel.
The association added that enquiries, however, from the unsuccessful haj pilgrims have increased.
1,500 places have been allocated to Singapore for the haj.
