SINGAPORE: The People's Action Party (PAP) marks its 50 years in government this year.

At a PAP event on Saturday evening, party chairman Lim Boon Heng said that the party's continued success depended on identifying committed leaders to stand for elections, maintaining its core values and staying in touch with the ground.

This year, 336 branch activists were recognised for their work. Mr Lim said the party must continue to reach out to the public through dialogue sessions and new media platforms.

The PAP is also working more closely with grassroots organisations, such as the Community Development Councils and Family Service Centres, in order to help families in financial difficulty.
