SINGAPORE : An injury-time goal from Murphy Wiredu sealed a last-gasp victory for Sengkang Punggol, as they beat Woodlands Wellington 2-1 at Jalan Besar Stadium on Friday evening.

The result ensured Sengkang stayed off the foot of the S.League table, as they moved three points clear of Balestier Khalsa, who occupy last place.

Amos Boon had an inspired first half despite hitting his head against the goalpost early on, as the two teams headed into the break goalless.

Farizal Basri's penalty for Sengkang on 57 minutes was cancelled out by a spot-kick conversion from Woodlands centreback Precious Emuejeraye 11 minutes later, but Wiredu reacted fastest to a quickly-taken free kick in injury time to clinch the Dolphins a memorable victory. - sleague
