SINGAPORE: Singapore's only pig abattoir - which was closed on Monday due to an accidental ammonia gas leak - resumed operations on Tuesday.

The good news is that many pork sellers said they do not intend to increase their prices due to the incident.

Although Indonesian pork will be back on sale from Thursday, pork sellers have found alternatives to the temporary shortfall.

At the Tiong Bahru market, it is business as usual for some butchers, who are selling chilled pork from Australia.

While a few stall holders decided to take a break until Indonesian pork supplies resume, other butchers sold weekend leftovers.

"Some customers were unable to buy pork. My customers and customers of other pork sellers are buying from me because all the pork I sell is from Indonesia," said Christopher Lee, a pork seller.
