SINGAPORE: APEC leaders, ministers and their spouses will bring home something uniquely Singapore.
They received a range of hand-made art pieces designed by home-grown award-winning artists.
Leaders received a bronze sculpture in the shape of an infinity ring, created by sculptor Chong Fah Cheong.
The design reflects the ongoing concern of APEC members to improve economic standards and the development of the global community.
Spouses of APEC leaders received a metal art piece by Chieu Shuey Fook, detailing Singapore's waterfront skyline.
Ceramic creations were among the other gifts presented to ministers and their spouses.
While meetings were underway for APEC leaders on Saturday, their spouses spent the morning at the Botanic Gardens.
They were greeted by flora and fauna at the Jacob Ballas Children's Garden and the National Orchid Garden.
Ms Ho Ching, wife of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, was the host.
Student guides were also present.
A highlight of the visit was the unveiling of the APEC Singapore Orchid, named "Trichocentrum APEC Singapore".
"It has a strong, dignified look, with very tough leathery leaves that stand upright. All in all, I think it makes a very nice beautiful, new hybrid," said Dr Chin See Chung, director of Singapore Botanic Gardens.
