SINGAPORE: The Ren Ci Charity Show will make a comeback next year after a two-year hiatus.

In a statement, Ren Ci Hospital & Medicare Centre said the show, with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong as the Guest of Honour will be telecast "live" on Channel U on January 24.

Ren Ci said the show hopes to raise S$4 million.

Chairman of Ren Ci Hospital & Medicare Centre, Chua Thian Poh, said the organisation has beefed up its corporate governance and financial management procedures.

He said the management with its new direction and commitment will continue to help the sick and the poor.

The financial affairs of Ren Ci came under the spotlight when its former CEO, Ming Yi, was hauled before the courts for offences under the Penal Code and the Charities Act.

Ming Yi and his former aide, Raymond Yeung, are expected to be sentenced later this week. - 938LIVE/vm
