SINGAPORE: Two National Environment Agency (NEA) officers have been suspended after they were charged in court.

32-year-old Mohamed Rafi Abdul Alim and 42-year-old Koh Hui Chong were separately charged with attempting to obtain sexual favours in return for turning a blind eye on smoking offenders.

In a statement released Tuesday, NEA said it is "appalled" by the actions of the two men, and they are no longer in service.

It added that it will not hesitate to take action against any of its officers for misconduct or abuse of authority.
