SINGAPORE: Child abuse may be considered a taboo topic in many Asian societies, but one Singaporean aims to raise awareness of this subject by climbing the world's highest peak - Mount Everest.
For Sandhosh Kumar, child abuse is an issue close to his heart, having seen many such victims.
An avid climber, the 25-year-old is looking forward to merging his passion with the aim of raising awareness of this social issue by conquering the mountain in March 2010.
He shared about his mission on Thursday, which is the International Day for Prevention of Child Abuse.
"One of the ways we are trying to raise funds and awareness is, basically, I'm planning to take a banner to the top of Mount Everest. The banner is going to be a collage of images and individuals.
"That will be photographed at various locations at the Himalayas, including the summit of Mount Everest. So you could get to the top of Mount Everest and contribute to this cause by sitting in the comfort of your home," he said.
The public can show their support to the campaign by logging on to this website.
