SINGAPORE: Students are being trained to become Cyber Wellness Student Ambassadors in a two-day workshop designed to promote positive Internet use.

The programme will also equip the ambassadors with skills to cope with potential online dangers, as well as provide them knowledge and skills to plan and implement cyber wellness activities in their schools under the guidance of teacher coordinators.

Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education Masagos Zulkifli kicked off the programme on Monday morning.

He said that having students involved directly in the planning and execution of cyber wellness activities will heighten their own awareness of online safety concerns, as well as spread the adoption of positive cyber habits within the student community.

The programme is part of the BackPack LIVE! Education Initiative by the Education Ministry, the Infocomm Development Authority and Microsoft Singapore.

Close to a hundred students from 47 primary schools make up the pioneer batch of the programme.
