SINGAPORE: Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong met Lao Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Mr Goh said his visit is to underscore the importance of bilateral ties and get updates on developments in Laos.

Mr Goh said he was optimistic about Laos' future economic prospects and that it had made significant progress since his last visit in 1997.

Prime Minister Bouasone in turn expressed admiration for Singapore's development of its human capital.

He said Laos would continue to cooperate with Singapore in human resource development.

Both leaders also discussed the possibility of holding a seminar in Singapore about investing in Laos. - CNA/vm
