SINGAPORE: Ferry services between Singapore and Tanjung Balai in Indonesia's Riau Islands resumed on Wednesday.
Services had been cancelled since Sunday due to stormy weather.
Mr Peter Lim, general manager of Indo Falcon, the sole ferry operator between Tanjung Balai and Singapore, told MediaCorp that services resumed at eight on Wednesday morning.
Mr Lim said: "Last night, my agent told me that they were going to sail the stranded boats from Balai to Singapore. They said the weather is improving."
The ferry from Singapore to the Indonesian islands had about 50 passengers on its 8am service.
Mr Lim said services had been cancelled for short periods before, but this is the first time cancellations lasted two days.
He said: "Weather is usually rough in the year-end but this year, in this sector, it's very rough these few days. The previous years were rough but not so rough as the last few days."
Indo Falcon operates three services - at 8am, 11am and 6.20pm - between Tanjung Balai and Singapore daily. - CNA/vm
