SINGAPORE: An 87-year-old woman was found dead in a house along Farleigh Avenue on Thursday.

Police found the body of Madam Sng Gek Wah lying motionless in the house at around 3am. She was pronounced dead half an hour later.

A 23-year-old foreign domestic worker has been arrested in connection with the case.

According to neighbours in the Serangoon Gardens estate, the Indonesian maid had been working for a week, but she could not keep up with her employer's demands.

Her employer, Madam Sng, had told a neighbour recently that she was dissatisfied with her new maid and was planning to send her back after eight months.

She is believed to have lived only with her maid in the house.

Other domestic workers in the vicinity said they had noticed the maid's solitary behaviour.

One of them said: "She never spoke that much. She just looked around and never talked to anyone. I think normally maids are like that. She'd never said her name."
