SINGAPORE: It's just days before the "We Are One" community service project comes to a close on 30 November.

The project is a corporate social responsibility initiative by CapitaLand, LEGO Singapore and MediaCorp to raise S$1 million for charity.

The money raised will be channelled to help Singaporeans and families affected by the economic downturn.

Since 14 October, people in Singapore have been busy helping those affected by the recession by actively taking part in the "We Are One" project.

MediaCorp also pledged $10,000, which means it will get its own Lego building on the 8-metre by 5-metre map of Singapore.

On Friday, MediaCorp staff were at ION Orchard, busy building the MediaCorp tower, one of 56 corporate buildings and icons to be featured on the map.

Shoppers at the ION Orchard mall also did their bit for the "We Are One" project.

Jane Lim, group manager of WBL Corporation, said: "It pulls together Singapore as a whole from many different segments to help the needy families at this time. The different elements of this project including the Lego bricks going to the children, to the Christmas, pull together very nicely and we certainly hope this to be a great success."
