SINGAPORE : The 25th SEA Games begin in Laos on Wednesday and will be covered across all MediaCorp platforms - TV, Radio, Print, and Online.
There will be daily highlights and "live" coverage to ensure that all the thrills and spills are captured.
MediaCorp's Channel 5 is sending a 20-member team of producers, presenters and technical crew - who will put out a half-hour show at 10pm daily during the games. The entire production will be done out of a temporary studio set up in Laos.
"We also go 'live' 7 to 9pm almost daily... There are always things to look out for - swimming, table tennis, soccer matches, badminton. I think these are the key sports which will feature in this belt," said Remesh Kumar, VP of Entertainment Productions, MediaCorp TV.
The team feels there will be challenges on the ground, as Laos is hosting the SEA Games for the first time. But they are confident Laos will pull off a good show, as it is getting help from China and Vietnam in some areas.
The Opening Ceremony on Wednesday as well as the Closing Ceremony on December 18 will be shown "live" on Channel 5.
MediaCorp has already screened two of the group matches for football, involving the Young Lions. - CNA /ls
