SINGAPORE : Twenty-three successive SEA Games gold medals - that's what the water polo team achieved on Monday.
And they got a warm reception when they returned home from Laos on Friday evening.
Some 80 fans and family members were at the airport to receive the team.
Besides celebrating the historic win, Singapore is also looking at competing at a higher level.
Their next target is the 2010 Asian Games in November. And to prepare for that, the team will take part in the Commonwealth Water Polo Championships in India in April.
The team will also be using the Singapore Invitational in July to tune up for the Asian Games.
The next edition of the SEA Games could see only Under-23 teams competing from 2011 onwards. So the senior boys in the Singapore squad will focus on the bigger events. - CNA /ls
