SINGAPORE: Singapore's Parliament will host the 18th Annual Meeting of the Asia Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) from January 17 to 22 next year. It is a meeting for the national parliaments of countries in the Asia Pacific region.
The APPF comprises 27 members, namely Australia, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, China, Ecuador, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Marshall Islands, Mexico, Micronesia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, US and Vietnam. Brunei attends as an observer.
A statement from Singapore's Parliament said the six-day meeting will be attended by some 300 participants who will discuss political and security matters, economic and trade issues, as well as regional cooperation in the Asia Pacific.
Singapore's Parliament Speaker Abdullah Tarmugi will open the meeting and the delegations will also call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. APPF members will sign a Joint Communique at the conclusion of their meeting.
