SINGAPORE: One of Singapore's biggest and longest running Christmas charity projects has reached its donation target, collecting enough food and household items for 28,982 beneficiaries.

Organisers said the media helped get more people to donate. Food and household items were collected at the 14 gift box locations islandwide.

Members of the public could also make online purchases at www.fairprice.com.sg. Cash donations could also be made at AXS outlets islandwide.

The Sharity Gift Box reached its target after about three weeks of work from 3,500 Boys' Brigade officers and boys.

Around this time last year, only about 60 per cent of the donation target had been achieved. - CNA/vm
