SINGAPORE : 2009 has been all about keeping hair short. And for the trendy who took the chop, there is bad news ahead, according to international hair stylist Kim Robinson.

He said: "Going on trend for women next year, a lot of people are talking about the new short cropped bob and the short look, but I do not think that is really going to be a trend. It is still long but the trend is about versatility and texture."

Accessories are another hot trend that can turn long hair from "blah" to "bling" with minimal effort.

For guys though, the look is short and versatile.

Robinson said: "What really works now is if you grow the top layers longer and crop the side shorter. Keeping it long means you can gel the hair when you go to work looking very business-like, very cool.

"If you want to look contemporary and hip and happening, you can put some products to the hair and make it fly around."

As for colour, it is time for Asian women to return to their roots.

Robinson said blonde is out and after a brief flirt with black in 2009, dark brown shades will be in fashion next year. - CNA/ms
