SINGAPORE: Six markets and hawker centres are making their comeback in January.

They're part of a group that have undergone major facelifts under the National Environment Agency's (NEA) Hawker Centres Upgrading Programme (HUP).

Located in areas such as Ang Mo Kio, Telok Blangah Crescent and Tanglin Halt, the upgraded centres feature improved facade and better facilities.

These include upgraded toilet facilities, new tables and chairs, enhanced ventilation and better lighting.

The NEA currently manages 109 markets and hawker centres.

So far 84 centres have been upgraded under HUP. - CNA/vm
