LTA organises meeting to review traffic situation along Upper Thomson Road

SINGAPORE: Parishioners of the Church of the Holy Spirit on Sunday were informed about long-term plans for improving road safety in the Upper Thomson area.

The area has come under scrutiny after two elderly pedestrians - including 82-year-old sports personality Tan Eng Yoon - died there in separate road accidents in the last three months.

MediaCorp understands that parish priest Father Andrew Wong told his congregation that five church representatives, MP Hri Kumar and more than 20 RC members and Land Transport Authority staff had met on Thursday night.

Extensive feedback and suggestions were gathered which will, hopefully, work in providing long-term solutions for all road users.

Meanwhile, Father Andrew Wong appealed for patience and understanding, and urged pedestrians to use proper crossings.

The next meeting among various stakeholders is expected to take place in two weeks. - CNA/ms
