SINGAPORE: Taking a cab from Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) will become more expensive from Friday.

ComfortDelGro will impose a S$3 location surcharge for all taxi trips starting from the integrated resort. In a statement, it said the surcharge will come into effect from 6.00am on Friday.

The taxi operator said this is to cater to the throngs of people who are expected to visit RWS this weekend, when the casino and theme park open for business.

The surcharge will be displayed on the meter and printed on the receipt.

Earlier, SMRT Taxis introduced the S$3 location surcharge on January 20.

RWS has so far not officially confirmed if the casino and Universal Studios theme park would open by the Lunar New Year, widely regarded as an auspicious time.

However, tenants and staff at the integrated resort were said to be gearing up for the big opening at the end of this week.
