SINGAPORE : An experiential learning kindergarten was launched by the PAP Community Foundation (PCF) Kindergarten on Sunday.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean launched the Kidz Haven@PCF Boon Lay.

This PCF kindergarten will adopt experiential learning, which allows pupils to learn through hands-on experience.

The centre was jointly developed in collaboration with the National Institute of Education (NIE).

In future, the centre will also allow NIE professionals and practitioners from Kidz Haven@PCF Boon Lay to try out new teaching methods, which could then be adopted by other PCF Kindergartens.

The curriculum comprises two hours of the PCF core curriculum and mother tongue, followed by two hours of experiential topics to be conducted in specialised rooms such as discovery and math, drama, cookery and gym.

Pupils may be paired to capture what they have learnt on teacher-developed templates using laptops. Parents may track their children's progress through this e-portfolio. - CNA/ms
