SINGAPORE: More witnesses testified on Friday at the coroner's inquiry into the death of Mr Tong Kok Wai in a hit-and-run accident linked to an embassy car allegedly driven by former Romanian diplomat Silviu Ionescu.
Muhammad Haris gave his side of the story at the inquiry. He injured his left foot in the accident on December 15 at the junction of Bukit Panjang and Bangkit Road.
He said: "After the incident, I felt traumatised about it. When I cross the road, I tend to be very cautious. When a car comes closer, I just tend to stop and wait for the car to really stop then I will cross the road. "
The coroner's court also heard the evidence of Mr Leong Zi Quan who witnessed the accident at Bukit Panjang that morning.
But while he noticed that the driver was "male, fair and a large person", Mr Leong said he couldn't identify the person behind the wheel.
His description of the car matched the one from the Romanian embassy.
Meanwhile, forensic scientist Lim Xin Li told the court that an examination of the vehicle uncovered hair and skin samples pulled from various parts of the car including the wind shield.
They also matched the deceased Mr Tong and the seriously-injured Bong Hwee Ha.
Another who appeared at the inquiry was Ms Kanda Loh Kailing, who was then the personal relations manager of a KTV Lounge.
She said she did not notice Dr Ionescu consuming any drinks that morning.
The coroner's inquiry continues next week. - CNA/vm
