SINGAPORE : Temasek Polytechnic students have come up with a new iPhone application to solve one's parking woes.

The application called Parking Guru was created by five students from the polytechnic's Business IT diploma class.

It enables one to locate nearby car parks, complete with parking charges, as well as where the car has been parked.

Users can also set an alarm to alert them when the parking duration is up.

It is one of 22 projects showcased at the polytechnic's final-year project show.

Besides keeping abreast of the latest technology, the projects also show the students' sound business skills.

Joel Ng Wei Ian, student, Temasek Polytechnic, said: "We decided to come up with a location-based application. And one problem is that working adults have a problem finding car parks, thus wasting time, money and petrol as well. So basically, we came up with this application in the hope of solving such problems." - CNA/ms
