SINGAPORE: A group of women from Kaki Bukit have come together to form the "Women Against Violence" squad.

It is a watch group to educate women on crime prevention and assist the police to lookout for potential offenders.

The squad was launched at the Kaki Bukit Town Day celebrations on Sunday, graced by Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Members of Parliament (MPs) from Marine Parade GRC.

The theme for the celebrations was "Connecting Generations - Active Participation."

Kaki Bukit Town Day aims to relive the old kampong days in Chai Chee and enhance bonding within the family and community.

Some 3,000 residents took part in the day of fun and games.
