SINGAPORE: Four from Singapore have made the Forbes World's Billionaires list released on Thursday.
Forbes ranked banker Wee Cho Yaw and family 258 on its global list, with a fortune of US$3.5 billion.
Kuok Khoon Hong, who heads commodities firm Wilmar International, was ranked 258.
Zhong Sheng Jian, founder of property developer, Yanlord Group, and the man dubbed the remisier king, Peter Lim, ranked 616 and 655, respectively.
Forbes said Asia has staged a strong showing. The number of tycoons from the Asia-Pacific region with a ten-figure net worth has risen to 234 from 130 last year. This accounts for almost a quarter of the 1,011 billionaires on the global list.
The combined wealth of Asian billionaires has also more than doubled to US$729 billion.
The rate of increase far outpaces that of European tycoons, who saw their collective fortune rise by 50 per cent while their US counterparts enjoyed only an 18 per cent increase.
Of the Asian economies, China continues to lead the pack by more than doubling its number of billionaires to 64.
India follows behind, increasing its billionaires to 49 from 24 previously.
