SINGAPORE : The Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with its Macau counterpart - Macao SAR Government Consumer Council - to strengthen consumer protection and enhance consumer confidence.

CASE said the MOU will pave the way for both agencies to set up a channel to help consumers resolve consumer-related disputes in the respective jurisdictions.

Both organisations will also mutually recognise accredited businesses and cooperate on matters relating to consumer issues such as product testing.

CASE had previously signed similar MOUs with the China Consumers' Association and Consumer Coordination Council in India.

It said it has assisted 11 consumers with their disputes as a result of the two MOUs.

In the near future, it said it is considering signing an MOU with the Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations. - CNA /ls
