SINGAPORE : A Briton, Anthony Brice, will join the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) as its general manager with effect from 12 April 2010.
Formerly the manager of Northern Sinfonia, Orchestra of The Sage Gateshead in the United Kingdom, Mr Brice brings with him a wealth of British and international exposure and experience.
He will look into raising the performing and artistic standards of the SSO.
A graduate of the University of Southampton in the UK, the 34-year-old arts manager is a classically-trained trombonist.
Mr Brice said: "I am thrilled to be joining the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and am very much looking forward to working with the entire team to make the SSO an indispensable and internationally-acclaimed jewel in the cultural offering of the region."
Chng Kai Jin, who has been SSO's general manager since March 2004, will be appointed general manager of the Singapore Symphonia Company Limited.
He will will work closely with Mr Brice during this transitional period.
Mr Chng will continue to oversee operations within the Marketing, Business Development, Human Resource, Finance and Concert Hall departments.
Mr Brice will focus on SSO's core business of Programming, Orchestra Management and Community Outreach. - CNA/ms
