Debtor-turned-runner nabbed for suspected loan shark harassment

SINGAPORE: Police arrested a 36-year-old man on Wednesday afternoon in Ang Mo Kio who is believed to be involved in loan shark harassment.

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Station acted on reports of loan shark harassment in Yishun and conducted an ambush at Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park at about 9am.

At about 9.30am, the officers spotted the suspect and detained him.

Early investigation revealed that he is a debtor-turned-runner and had scrawled loan shark related graffiti on the walls of debtors.

A black marker pen and a mobile phone were seized from him.

The suspect will be charged in court on Thursday with loan shark harassment. - CNA/vm
