SINGAPORE : A couple was found dead at Block 75, Bedok North Road on Thursday evening, in what is believed to be a murder-cum-suicide case.

The incident took place at about 6.40pm.

A 38-year-old man was found lying at the foot of the block. Police later found the body of a 34-year-old woman on the 12th floor of the same block.

She had stab wounds on her and a knife with bloodstains was recovered from the lift lobby nearby.

Police said preliminary investigations revealed the couple were husband and wife.

Residents told Channel NewsAsia they heard shouting and crying at about 6.30pm.

Fakir Hussein, a resident at the opposite block, said: "I heard cries. About one or two cries, and it was getting louder and louder. So I opened my door and tried to check and saw this lady in a yellow shirt. She was crying hysterically."

Another resident, who lives on the 13th floor, said he heard the woman and the children shouting and crying.

Others said they heard a loud thud when the man fell. He is believed to have hit the covered walkway, which had a dent on its roof. - CNA/vm/ms
