SINGAPORE: Defending champions SAFFC tasted defeat for the first time in the Great Eastern-Yeo's S.League 2010 season on Thursday night at Gombak United's Jurong West Stadium.

Gombak midfielder Goran Subara struck five minutes from the half-time break and the Bulls held on to post their second win in five matches.

In another match at Woodlands Stadium, the home side's hangover from their League Cup final loss to Etoile FC on March 7 continued, after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Sengkang Punggol.

Sengkang's impressive Jordan Webb opened the scoring in the fourth minute, but Woodlands were given a boost when the visitors' Shazir Hamzah saw red in the 37th minute.

But Sengkang managed to hold the Rams at bay with 10 men to move into fifth spot in the standings, just behind Gombak on goal difference. -
