SINGAPORE: Asia's biggest ironman triathlon is back for the fourth year running.
The Aviva Ironman 70.3 Singapore saw a familiar face cast in victory - two-time Ironman world champion Craig Alexander.
The Australian defended his title, crossing the finish line in three hours, 53 minutes and 31 seconds.
Coming a minute close was runner-up James Cunnama of South Africa.
The female category saw Caroline Steffen from Switzerland claim her first Aviva Ironman 70.3 Singapore title.
She finished in four hours, 18 minutes and 14 seconds.
In the local category, Singaporean Loo Chuan Rong, 27, was the fastest man, completing the race in four hours, 35 minutes and 26 seconds.
Tan Cheng Yin, 35, was the fastest woman, with a time of five hours, 22 minutes and 40 seconds.
While most of Singapore were still asleep, some contestants braved a humid morning to conquer the shores of East Coast Park.
They endured a 1.9-kilometre swim, followed by a 90.1-kilometre cycle, and gave their legs a final workout in a 21.1-kilometre run.
This year saw a record participation of 1,400 competitors from 61 countries.
